Counting Down to Christmas

If you're like any normal person, you are counting down to "holiday" vacation at the moment, and its going veryyy slowly. If you are in school you are constantly checking the clock which makes time move slower and and days grow longer. Then you decide to play clock games, like see how long you can go without looking at the clock and then being "surprised" and happy about how much time went by. Perhaps you day dream about the big fat present you've been hinting about all year long since last Christmas when you didn't get it. Surely THIS year SOMEONE will catch on! And upon opening the gift, you need to express a well  practiced excited reaction so people will want to get you what YOU want and not what THEY want you to want just because of your fantastically appreciative reaction. That takes up a lot of class time believe me, you don't want your reaction to seem too fake excited it has to be genuine but borderline fake so that your are so excited but not too excited. As you're leaving the class you hear your teacher mention some test this week and you wished you were paying attention but then not really because you are glad you missed a whole hour of watching your teacher move their mouth in that annoying way. Your next class flies because you ask your teacher an off but kind of on topic question in such a knowledgeable way that makes them want to answer. When they do they are reminded of some personal experience that they feel is necessary to share. After that all the other students catch on and ask question after question with deep concern. It takes a while for the teacher to catch on and when they do, there you go! Half of class gone already! then you begin to wander about the family presents under the tree. There was four for you but eight for your little brother which makes no sense because you KNOW he was bad. You think about the thin and soft rectangular box and immediately recognize it as clothes, depending on who picked it out this could be a disaster. Then your mind goes to the small bendable rectangle present wrapped with care. The annual book that you have to act like you appreciate. "Wait!" you think, there's that package that's really big and really heavy! Then you remember the trick presents your dad likes to put under the tree. Filling huge boxes with cans of beans and canned fruit. That leaves the one measly boxy present which, lets hope, is better than all of the other gifts combined. One can only pray that Santa does better. Ahhh it's lunch already, thank goodness, after that is recess then art. I can get through those alright as long as I ignore my fellow classmates rudely munching on their food and  avoid being pelted with a ball outside. One day down, and 3 more school days to go until Christmas. Oh no, it can't be, I think I'm getting sick. The flu takes 3 days to cure right?
